A Rug Rolls, It Doesn't Fold
A rug folded creases and the creases don't come out. A rug rolls. Here's how to pick up a Marketplace rug.
Roll It
Roll the rug with the pile (the soft side) facing inward. Rolling with the pile out damages the fibers. Roll tightly — a tight roll is easier to carry and fits the van.
Tie It
Tie the rolled rug with rope or straps at each end and in the middle. A loose roll unrolls in the van. A tied roll is a single, carryable piece.
The Van
A rolled rug fits a cargo van (a 9x12 rug rolls to about 8 feet long). A larger rug may need a box truck. Tell us the rug's size when booking.
Protect It
A rug pad goes inside the roll (so it's not lost). A plastic bag over each end of the roll keeps the ends clean. A dirty rug end is a dirty floor.
The Carry
A rolled rug is a two-person carry (it's long, not heavy). Two people, one at each end, walk it out. A rug carried over the shoulder scratches walls — carry it low.
The Creases
A rug that was folded (by the seller) will have creases. Lay it flat at the new place; the creases relax over a few days. A rug that was rolled has no creases.
