FRIHETEN Is a Sleeper, Storage, and Sofa
The IKEA FRIHETEN is a sleeper sofa with storage under the chaise — one of the more complex IKEA pieces. Here's the build and the storage alignment.
Assemble the Sofa Frame
The FRIHETEN frame is a three-seat sofa with a chaise. Bolt the seat frame, then the backrest, then the arms. The chaise attaches to the sofa with a connector — don't skip it or the chaise drifts.
The Storage Chaise
The chaise lifts to reveal storage. The storage lid is hinged; bolt the hinge to the chaise frame. The lid must sit flat when closed — adjust the hinge if it rocks.
The Pull-Out Bed
The FRIHETEN pulls out into a bed by removing the back cushions and pulling the seat forward. The pull-out runs on a frame; confirm the frame bolts are tight or the bed binds.
The Mattress
The FRIHETEN mattress folds. Unfold it on the pull-out frame and secure it with the straps. A mattress that's not strapped shifts and the bed is uncomfortable.
The Cover
The FRIHETEN cover is removable. Pull it taut over the frame and tuck the elastic. The chaise cover is separate from the sofa cover — fit both.
The Wobble
A FRIHETEN with a wobbly chaise has a loose connector. Check the bolt between the chaise and the sofa and tighten.
