A Package Held at UPS
A package held at the UPS Customer Center or an Access Point is ready for pickup — but you need to get it released to you (or a pro). Here's how.
The Hold-for-Pickup
UPS holds a package at the Customer Center or an Access Point (a local shop) if you requested hold-for-pickup or if a delivery attempt failed. You get a notice with the hold location and the release hours.
The ID
UPS releases the package to the person named on the shipment, with a government ID matching that name. To authorize a pro to pick it up, you need UPS My Choice to authorize a pickup person, or a signed note and your ID copy (some Access Points accept this — confirm first).
The Tracking Number
Have the tracking number ready when booking the pickup — it's how the pro confirms the package at the desk.
Same-Day
For a package held at a nearby Access Point, a same-day pickup is usually available. The pro picks it up and delivers it within hours.
The $45 Flat
A single UPS package pickup to one NYC address usually fits the $45 flat rate.
