The Pharmacy Pickup
A prescription ready at the pharmacy is a time-sensitive pickup — some meds can't sit, and a missed dose isn't an option. Here's how a same-day pickup handles it.
What We Can Pick Up
- A filled prescription at a NYC pharmacy (CVS, Walgreens, independent).
- A held refill at the pharmacy counter.
- Over-the-counter items you called in.
The ID Requirement
Pharmacies release prescriptions only to the patient or an authorized person. For a controlled substance, the patient's ID is required and pickup-by-proxy may not be allowed — confirm with the pharmacy first. For a standard prescription, you can authorize a pickup person with a signed note and a copy of your ID.
Controlled Substances
Some medications (opioids, certain ADHD meds) require the patient to pick up in person. We'll tell you if the pharmacy's policy rules out a proxy pickup before we send the pro.
Temperature-Sensitive
Insulin and some liquid meds need to stay cold. Tell us if the prescription is refrigerated — the pro brings an insulated bag with a cold pack so the medication stays within range on the trip.
Same-Day Timing
A pharmacy pickup is often a same-day job. Book in the morning, the prescription is at your door by early afternoon. Tell us the pharmacy's hours and we'll route the closest pro.
The $45 Flat Often Covers It
A single prescription from one pharmacy to one address usually fits the $45 flat rate. Multiple pickups or a long distance may add a small fee.
Privacy
The pro doesn't open the pharmacy bag and doesn't handle the medication — the sealed bag goes from the counter to your hand. Tell us any special handling and we'll respect it.
