A POD Unloads in Reverse Priority
A POD (or a storage container) unloads in the order you need things — not the order they were loaded. Here's the sequence.
What Was Loaded Last Comes Off First
If you loaded the "Open First" boxes and the bed last, they're at the container's door. Unload them first. The bed is reassembled on day one.
Heavy Items to the Curb
The fridge, the sofa, the dresser come off and go straight to the apartment. Don't stage them on the sidewalk — a street item is a theft target.
A Clear Path
Before opening the POD, clear a path from the container to the apartment door. A blocked path means setting items down and picking them back up.
Two People, a Dolly
A POD unload is a two-person job with a dolly. One pulls items to the door, one carries them in. A single person unloads a POD in twice the time.
Sort as You Unload
Items go directly to the room they belong in. "Kitchen" boxes to the kitchen, "Bedroom" boxes to the bedroom. A pile in the living room is an unpacking nightmare.
Inventory Check
Check each item off the load list as it comes off. A missing item is a POD that wasn't fully unloaded (or a item left in storage).
