Used Couch Delivery: Hygiene and Stairs

Used Couch Delivery: Hygiene and Stairs

A Used Couch Delivery

A used couch is the most common Marketplace delivery — and the one with the most considerations (hygiene, stairs, size). Here's how to deliver it.

Inspect for Bedbugs

Before buying, inspect the seams for dark specks and shed skins. A bedbug-infested couch costs thousands in extermination. A clean couch from a non-smoking, pet-free home is usually fine.

The Stairs

A couch delivery is a stair job — at the seller's and at yours. A couch goes on-end through a door, and a stair dolly handles the flights. Tell us the flights at both ends.

Take the Legs Off

Ask the seller to unscrew the legs before the pro arrives. Those four inches are the difference between fitting the door and getting stuck.

Wrap It

The pro wraps the couch in a blanket. The blanket protects the couch and the walls. A bare couch rubs every doorframe.

The Van

A couch fits a cargo van. A sectional comes apart and fits a van in sections. A very large sectional may need a box truck.

Clean It After

A used couch is cleaned after delivery — a fabric couch is shampooed, a leather couch is wiped and conditioned. A clean couch is a couch you're happy with.

The Smell

If the couch is from a smoker's home, the smell may not come out. A fabric couch holds smell more than leather. Consider this before buying.
